LEONOR MELLADO MANNAERTS

COLEGIO FDR (PERU) SOPHMORE

How does it all start?

Leonor Mellado is a 15-year-old high school student at FDR in Lima Peru with a passion for speaking on human rights and wants to give a voice to the ones that couldn't be heard. Throughout the years, the topic of women's rights kept resurfacing in-class assignments and her surroundings like the march of the movement NiUnaMenos. It inspired her to look deeper into the root cause of the issue that is violence against women and discovered the flawed mentality we all have. After researching with a group of students and creating a podcast, it's from small, subtle, and stereotypical behaviors that are considered "normal" that originate this problem. Through telling the stories of women in Peru and through statistical data, she will share and educate others on the urgency of the matter and how one's social environment and the media reinforce harmful gender roles.

SOFIA RABELLO

ISP JUNIOR

"You are not what you eat"

Hi! My name is Sofia Correa, I am from Brazil and I am currently a junior at the International School of Panama. I have a passion for fashion, music, and I love to stand up for what I believe in. As someone who is constantly trying to educate myself and others, I found this to be the perfect opportunity to share my story about body image, my relationship with food and the media, and how much I’ve grown since then. I hope to inspire and educate many people through this conference!
